TriTangle Challenge Set
Discover how shape affects stability as students build a freestanding structure using triangles!
Providing groups with 4 triangles each, students use the Engineering Design Process to brainstorm ideas and create a pyramid, tower, or bridge. After building and testing their design, students discuss what worked and what did not, then find ways to improve their structure. Through the process, students discover how a triangular shape increases the stability of buildings and bridges when force is applied. They can also lay triangles on the floor to learn about tessellation. Molded polypropylene plastic triangles (33"W x 29"H x 1/4" thick; 1/2 lb ea) are textured for added grip.
Set includes 20 triangles (12 red, 8 blue). The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Recommended for Elementary.
