How to Play

The dealer shuffles and deals cards to each player. Each player assesses his/her hand to make points. Add points with all basic poker combinations (pairs, flushes, straights, etc.), as well as numerical additions of 15. The object is to earn the most points possible with each hand to move your pegs around the cribbage board. One card from each hand will be thrown into “the crib". This is a second hand for the dealer that counts in addition to their original hand.

After throwing cards in the crib, cut the deck and place a card face-up on it. This is a communal card that any player can use when counting their hand. However, players must play the count-up phase before hand counting begins. The player opposite the dealer plays a card from his/her hand, then the next player plays, and so on until the numbers reach 31. Earn points for pairs, straights, 15, or 31. When 31 is reached or players cannot play without busting, counting starts over. When all cards are played, hand counting begins.

The player opposite the dealer counts his/her hand first and moves his/her pegs accordingly. Then the dealer counts his/her hand, moves his/her pegs, then counts the crib, and moves his/her pegs again. Dealership then transfers to the next person and the cycle repeats. The object of the game is to be the first to score 121 points, moving your pegs up and down the track until they reach the end.
