STEM Plus Playoff - Wind Competition Kit
This fun engineering kit allows students to compete to build the most efficient savonius wind turbine!
Up to four students build their own savonius wind turbines and compete with their classmates using computer software to measure and analyze real-time RPMs and voltage output. This constant feedback allows students to learn from their mistakes and continuously improve their designs through iterative hypothesis and experimentation. Critical thinking improves as students identify problems and tweak their designs to optimize power output and blow away the competition. Experiment further by using various inputs from a hair dryer to students' breath to demonstrate high or low wind conditions in the real world. Kit includes software, USB connector, all pieces necessary to construct four turbines, and digital access to build instructions and course curriculum. Full contents list is below. Recommended for Elementary and up.
