SoundStudy Kit
This kit allows the entire class to explore the world around them with a focus on their sense of sound. Learners operate various included devices, like tuning forks and hand bells to make unique sounds, or plastic springs to represent sound waves. They'll see how vibrations form a sound wave which travels through the air and is received by their ears and interpreted in the brain. They'll discuss the science of sound further using learned terms like wavelength, pitch, volume, and more. The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Accommodates 24 students working in 6 groups of 4. Full contents list below. Recommended for Elementary and up.
Kit includes:
- Tuning Forks, 6 Ea
- Steel Hand Bells, 6 Ea
- Hair Combs, 6 Ea

Next Generation Science Standards*:
-
1-PS4-1: Plan and conduct investigations to provide evidence that vibrating materials can make sound and that sound can make materials vibrate.
-
1-PS4-4: Use tools and materials to design and build a device that uses light or sound to solve the problem of communicating over a distance.
-
4-PS3-2: Make observations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electric currents.
-
MS-PS4-1: Use mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave.
-
MS-PS4-2: Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials.
