Pathfinders Strauss Bridge Kit
Students build a model to discover Joseph Strauss' influential bridge design!
From the Wishka River bridge in Washington to the Ashtaula Bridge in Ohio, Joseph Strauss' drawbridge-style design became prevalent in America since the 1920s. In this kit, students will build a replica Strauss Trunnion bridge, resulting in tangible proof of Strauss' real-world design breakthroughs. Students will discover how bridge-building concepts like trusses, counterweight, and balance are combined to allow cars to drive overhead while boats sail underneath. Sized to fit other wooden cars and boats, this kit offers hours of hands-on play, well after construction is complete. Completed bridge is 28"L x 4"W x 12"H. Recommended for Elementary and up.
