Ocean Science Kit
Dive in to discover the physical and chemical properties of seawater and how they impact the marine environment.
Students explore how convection currents are affected by factors like density and pressure with ocean curriculum. They also learn the impacts of precipitation, evaporation, and the inflow of fresh water from rivers. Then students use what they've learned to discuss 3 hypothetical scenarios and predict how they would impact surrounding water and land environments. At the end of the unit, students participate in a panel discussion regarding these scenarios and the potential outcomes.
Provide two 45-minute lab times on consecutive days plus time for students to conduct independent research. Required, but not included: refrigerator or freezer, ice, thermometers, and 18 large beakers or jars. Accommodates 24 students. Recommended for Upper Elementary and Middle School.
