GiantGeoboard Peg Board Kit
Students are the architects of their own giant shapes using a pegboard and rubber bands, then mathematicians as they calculate angles, perimeters, and areas. Students will identify various shapes through hands-on experience and analyze them further by applying abstract formulas to tangible proof!
To begin, place 100 ABS pegs in a 10 x 10 square board and challenge students to stretch rubber bands around the pegs in patterns that form squares, triangles, and more. For added difficulty, request complex polygons like a parallelogram, octagon, or hexagon! Teachers can even coax out specific shapes by only providing clues—what has four sides but no 90-degree angles? Students use rubber bands and trial and error to arrive at the answer!
The pegboard is constructed of durable ABS and HDPE, allowing for long-term classroom use. It sets up vertically or horizontally and disassembles for flat storage. Included lesson direction provides beginner, intermediate, and advanced activities and accompanying lessons to jumpstart critical thinking.
Kit includes 1 GiantGeoboard, 100 pegs, 180 rubber bands, and lesson direction. The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Pegboard is 38-1/4"L x 33-1/4"W x 55"H.
