It's a mad splash to the finish line as students use water soakers to move a cup along a string!

Using pencil-shaped water soakers, students use water to create enough force to move objects during a water race. Start by setting up the ABS uprights and adjusting them to the desired height using the push pins. Tie a string to one upright, insert the string through one cup, then attach the other end to the second upright. Fill the buckets with water and give each group a water soaker. As part of the water pressure experiments, students use the pressurized water to move the cup along the string from one tower to the other. Vary the lesson by using cups in different sizes, have students create their own vehicle, move the uprights to change the distance the cup must travel, or add weight to the cup. In the process, they will learn about the effects of force, pressure, friction, and gravity. Recommended for Elementary and up.

The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons.
