DNA Model Kit
Enlarged DNA model enhances labs and lectures.
In this kit, students construct a DNA model using 144 plastic building pieces. They’ll become familiar with six molecular shapes that collectively depict 16 nucleotide base pairs of DNA, including eight Adenosine Thymine pairs and eight Guanine Cytosine pairs. Each pair is composed of nine individual parts that easily snap together, giving students a hands-on understanding of the double helical structure and the function and properties of DNA. The base pairs and the sugar and phosphate units are each manufactured as single plastic pieces.
Each construction is reversible, allowing multiple groups of students to experience the build again and again. After building, students can work through DNA experiments to continue their discoveries. The kit includes detailed building instruction manual, plastic building pieces, rod, spacers, and wooden base. Available with or without paint and brushes. Pieces may be painted prior to or after assembly. Accommodates 6 students. Recommended for Middle School and up.

Next Generation Science Standards*:
- HS-LS1-1: Construct an explanation based on evidence for how the structure of DNA determines the structure of proteins, which carry out the essential functions of life.
- HS-LS1-2: Develop and use a model to explain how the structure and function of cells are related to the transport of materials and energy.
- HS-LS3-1: Ask questions to clarify the factors that influence genetic inheritance and variation in traits.
