CreateKit Swinging Water Cup Kit

In this centripetal force experiment, students build a suspended platform using Coroplast sheets and string, then place a cup of water on the platform as they swing it in a circle. Students note how different variables such as string length, amount of water, and velocity affect centripetal force and keep the water from spilling out of the cup. Try substituting small beads for water for easier cleanup in case of spills. As they experiment, students develop an understanding of gravity, centripetal force, acceleration, velocity, and Newton's Laws of Motion. The included lesson direction details setup instructions, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Accommodates 24 students. Recommended for Elementary and up.
