CreateKit Anemometer Kit
Practice meteorology and math by measuring the wind!
Using plastic bottles, wooden dowels, and other everyday items, students work together in small groups to build a DIY anemometer, a device used to measure wind speed. Once construction is complete, they calibrate their anemometer and understand the importance of establishing a control for scientific experiments. Then study wind speed by analyzing the rotations of the anemometer's spinning cup during a set period of time. Students learn to collaborate, think critically, and collect real-world data. The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Accommodates 24 students.
