Magnet Levitation Kit

Unit:  Ea

Explore equilibrium and defy the rules of gravity building a magnetic, floating train!

Students learn about cause and effect while discovering the interaction between the north and south sides of magnets. Watch as magnetic force counteracts the effects of gravity, suspending an object caught in the magnetic fields. To create a levitating train, students start by lining up the wooden blocks. They glue the plastic rails and long magnetic strips to the blocks, and glue the shorter magnetic strips to a separate wooden block. When students set the block on the track and the magnets counteract with each other, it will float! Kit includes 42 pieces and detailed instructions that outline 5 experiments and 5 projects to evaluate the power of magnets. Recommended for Middle School and up.
