Interactive Learning Using the Periodic Table

Large vinyl mat includes columns that correspond with the s, p, d, and f blocks on the periodic table of elements. Element beanbags are placed on the mat in the desired order, and students are given their own placemat of elements for game play.

To play, designated players spin and call out a hand or foot and the block selected. Then, they secretly select an element on the mat in that block and call out hints to players, such as atomic number, mass, or electron configuration. The first player to identify the correct element places their hand or foot on the block, and the first player to place both hands and feet wins the round! Be careful not to fall as you twist and tangle to place hands and feet on each element! Adjust beanbag placement and the students playing each round.
